Marriage is a union by which a man and a woman establish between themselves an intimate partnership for their whole lives, and which of its own nature is ordered to the well-being of the spouses and to the procreation and upbringing of children. It is a way for persons to dignify their lives and to serve God and society.
What is the origin of marriage?
Marriage is a great blessing from God since the beginning of mankind. God created men and women equal but complementary and made them sharers in his creative work of giving and caring for new human life through marriage. SUCCESSFUL FAMILIES, SUCCESSFUL SOCIETY. This was the title of a session held recently that I attended that actually comprised two addresses individually delivered by the very eloquent and themselves successfully married couple of Dr. Pat and Theresa Fagan.
The Fagans live in Washington D.C. and were in Trinidad as guests of the Caribbean Institute for Family Development (www.cifdtt.org). Irish-born Dr. Fagan, a clinical psychologist by profession had scientifically observed, early in his career, disturbed young kids and it was the impact of the parents’ relationship on their behaviour that he found quite instructive.
Pat remarked that he found that in 95% of the children with whom he dealt, he was able to contribute to behavioural improvement of the youngster by meeting the parents of the child and assisting in dialogue between mother and father. 1. What is Love?
Love is the fundamental interior calling of every human being. God is love and as the image of God, man is created for love. Love gives meaning to true freedom and self-control and orients them towards self-giving in communion and friendship with God and with others.
2. What is human sexuality?
When God created the human person in his image and likeness, he created them male and female. Masculinity and femininity are complementary gifts for building up the civilization of love.
