On the weekend of 17-18th November 2012 Family Enrichment in Trinidad and Tobago turned a new page in the exciting story of family life and the nurturing of its development in this country.

The Caribbean Institute of Family Development played host to three dynamic speakers – Carlos Morel and Karen and Ricardo Portela who journeyed to the southern Caribbean from Puerto Rico.

In spite of the circuitous route to get to Port of Spain, as our Puerto Rican friends arrived via Panama, these three presenters were explosive, energetic and  enthusiastic in explaining to their keen audience the history, methodology and best ways of communicating the message of happy families and so share the secret of Family Enrichment.

At the last moment Magaly Morel was unable to join her husband Carlos to visit Trinidad due to
the illness of their youngest child. This demonstrated, however, to the perceptive the real value
of family – that of support, in times that are good and in periods when we face challenges.

Family Enrichment was seen as a wonderful way of making friends and of sharing valuable
life lessons that could be passed on one on one and which would prove immensely useful in

Much emphasis was given to the training of moderators and cases from the First Letters course
were used for the practice sessions.

In addition, individuals acted out role play scenarios in actual “small group” meetings that tested
and helped the “moderators in training” to implement what they were just a few moments before
taught in their training sessions.

Above all everyone had a great time and the CIFD would like to thank Carlos & Magaly,
Ricardo & Karen and the IFFD for having made it possible to stage this re-launch of Family
Enrichment in Trinidad and Tobago.
